Hartington (limited parking in centre of village)

Head away from village centre with general store on your left.
Turn right by phone box (Hall Bank).
Follow Hall Bank and take 1st right (signposted Wolfscote Grange Farm)
As road levels out and just before barn on right, take the very high stile on your left.
Head across field aiming for left of the 2 telegraph poles and the stile beyond.
Over stile and turn right onto track.
At gate take stile to your left.
Head up field until you reach gate through fence on your right.
Through gate and turn left and head to top of field.
Through gate, bear right and over stile.
Turn left over stile and head up field (marker post indicates position of next stile).
Over stile then cross next field aiming for far right corner.
Over stile and turn right onto lane.
Follow this until you reach a cluster of cottages and road.
Turn right onto road for 100 mtrs then right through gate into Biggin Dale.
Down Biggin Dale.
Where valley widens and is strewn with stones and old branches, the track goes left and through a gate.
Once through the gate turn right and continue down Biggin Dale.
When you reach the river turn right upstream along Wolfscote Dale which leads onto Beresford Dale.
Following the river upstream (crossing it twice) will bring you eventually back to Hartington on a very well defined path. The path bears away from the river the nearer you get to Hartington.
Note: The field beyond the point where you see a bridge crossing the Dove on your left is sometimes exceptionally boggy. There are 2 options to avoid this:-
Either cross the bridge and follow the path round to the next bridge upstream (don’t cross this second bridge but continue upstream to Hartington),
Head uphill on the narrow track, turn left onto the quiet road at the top and follow this back to Hartington.
